Eighties Fashion Style

She's the pop singer seen jogging in Central Park. Madonna captured the style and fashion sense of generation. Especially teenage girls in the 1980s. Madonna is among the most influential people of the 1980s.

Madonna has always had a special relationship with the media. While many stars try desperately to avoid the paparazzi, Madonna has the power to manipulate the media to her advantage.

In 1985 Madonna ruled the airwaves and MTV too. Madonna at her peak was making music, videos and even movies at a fevered pace. Madonna had the media all sewn up by the mid 1980s. Madonna never had too much trouble from the paparazzi. She, in fact, seemed to embrace the photographers throughout her early career.

From her wildly teased and colored hair to the return of lace and fishnet stockings, her accessories were outrageous, and girls around the world wanted to be like Madonna even going so far as to add her trademark mole to their cheeks.

Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week as always was a major destination for the designer crowd recently. Boasting some of the hottest names in the industry and an A grade guest list, Paris is the home of Haute Courture.

Naturally plenty of press were on hand to give a blow by blow description of each days high and low lights. Now that the closing ceremony has come and gone the critics have given their overview of proceedings and as always it has involved an over use of adjectives and overstating the obvious.

Anne Keothavong In Action

Anne Keothavong has claimed she would have done broken into the world's top 50 years ago were it not for “unprofessional people” at the Lawn Tennis Association.
The 25-year-old rose four places to 48th in the rankings, following her run to the semi-finals in the Cellular South Cup in Memphis last week.
She is the first British woman since Jo Durie 16 years ago to make it into the top 50, and it continues the relatively late blossoming of a player who was ranked 134th 12 months ago.
But, although Keothavong is now content with the support provided to her by the LTA, she has criticised the sport's governing body in Britain for hampering her progress earlier in her career.
The Londoner, who turned professional in 2001, said she was now reaping the benefits of working with coaches she could trust.

Murray prescribed, “His beginning was very fine and sound, striking the ball solid with his forehand and I was hitting it short. NEW YORK - When Todd Martin announced his retirement from tennis on Monday night after losing his first-round match to Frenchman Fabrice Santoro in four sets, Andre Agassi became the last graybeard on the men’s circuit. Older players such as Pete Sampras, Jim Courier, Michael Chang, David Wheaton and now Martin have stepped aside.

Can Agassi carry the mantle himself by winning his ninth career Grand Slam at the U.S. Open? Frankly, I don’t think so. Why? Age has caught up with him.

That said, I think we must admit that this has been a very puzzling year for Agassi in that he never knows whether he is going to play well or not. Agassi once slumped during the 1997 season, when he plummeted out of the top 100.

Teen fashion is pretty serious business. The trends are changeable, unstructured, anything but not constant. Teen age too is a precious time of life and the best time to look good. Studies expose that teenagers are more knowledgeable about any fashion accessory that other age-wise people.

Expectation from this sector is high and continuous. A designer catering to teenage fashion wear promises himself a life of insurrection and creative investigation. All teenagers are not rebels, they are just fashion conscious.

From cultural to fusion and trendy western casuals, teenage is all about joy in vivid colours. Teenagers are hard pressed for time as they are always speeding up from errands to coaching classes and regular schools. Thus they prefer something easy and relaxed. Their primary choice remains denims, jeans, washes in acid and stone. Corduroys fashions come and go. Teenagers go tremendously creative about accessories. Trinkets form bracelets, beads, clasp nose rings, cluster earrings, fake tattoos, nail painting, henna and bindis.

Carefree mind-set and the spirit of life is seen in mix and match wears, trendy jackets, stoles with tassels, bandanas, hair colour, faux fur trims on high boots and elbow pads in amazing hues. Shoes and belts are responsive to fashion demands and gadgets are trendy. Skirts go from long, to flares and short skirts from knee length to white mini skirts. Blouses come in tank tops and off shoulders for bold looks and classy colours in lilac and fuchsia in georgette or satin for a little conservative. The idea is to know the venue of your day and dress accordingly.

Racial wear for teenagers demands lot of invention. Lehengas and Ghagras come in various colours like emerald green, pool blue and be it gota, zari or embellishments in pearl, crystals or sequins, teenagers seem to need more! The demand is insatiable in fusion wear with embroidered suits for boys and jackets too. It is significant to notice the teenagers skin deep in tradition at any festival or celebration.

Though western trends such as japanese fashion seem to control teenagers in all walks of life, it is the effort of designers in balancing the ethnicity of Indian fashion. The next time you need the latest hair colour, be sure to ask a teenager!

Third seeds Sania Mirza and Shahar Peer survived a scare from Tatiana Poutchek and Anastasia Rodionova before advancing to the doubles quarter-finals of the US $600,000 Bank of West Classic tournament in Stanford.
The Indo-Israeli pair beat the unseeded Belarussian-Russian duo 6-1, 0-6, 11-9 in over an hour at the WTA Tour hard court tournament on Wednesday.
Sania and Peer will meet the Uzbek-German team of Akgul Amanmuradova and Angalika Bachmann.
Sania, who is aiming for a second successive doubles title after her triumph in Cincinatti with Bethanie Mattek last week, and Peer failed to convert two breakpoints in the third set which saw them being broken thrice.
But they got their act together in the super tie-breaker to advance to the quarters.
